Affiliation with Arts
During his life as a student, Edwin took up playing classical guitar. After just playing a couple of months, he was asked by friends to buy an electrical guitar and jam with them in the rehearsal studio's. After only a couple of weeks, he was on stage as a rock singer and guitarist at a student house. During his life, he continued performing music.
Also during his student life, in 1991 Edwin and a handful of other students organized the Pythic Games, a multi-day cultural festival across all fields of arts that was attended by hundreds of students of the Netherlands and Belgium and had juries consisting of some of the major Dutch artists and leaders of these fields of arts.
Edwin provided technical studio support in sound and lighting for various theatrical shows. He will also continue supporting the foundation through video editing, managing the website and other IT means.
For the Holland Festival, Edwin collaborated with young business representatives of other organisations in advising on how to attract and interest young people for the Holland Festival and other art institutions. Amongst others, this resulted in the foundation of the Holland Festival Young.
In addition to music, Edwin is actively interested in painting, philosophy and, of course, now also dance. Next to being the business director of the Foundation, he is contemplating how to incorporate all these interests and his background in technology artistically in future projects of the Foundation. He is and will be challenging all artistic concepts from a philosophy of arts point of view.
